Overview
Our Chambers has a strong and well established general crime practice, with members regularly instructed across the full spectrum of serious and everyday criminal offending before the Crown Court. We act in cases ranging from serious violence, sexual offences and drugs conspiracies to robbery, firearms, fraud, and organised criminal activity. This breadth of experience allows us to provide robust and practical defence advocacy in cases that are often factually complex, emotionally charged and legally demanding.
We have particular experience in highly sensitive prosecutions, including allegations of non accidental injury such as baby shaking cases, serious rape, historic sexual abuse, and sexual offences involving positions of trust. These matters frequently involve vulnerable complainants, mentally disordered defendants and competing expert evidence. Our barristers are adept at analysing medical and psychological material, testing expert opinion and presenting careful, measured advocacy to ensure that cases are tried fairly and with appropriate focus.
Members of Chambers are also regularly instructed in robbery and armed robbery trials, large scale drugs conspiracies and cases where serious violence is alleged to arise from the drugs trade. This includes joint enterprise allegations, gang related offending and prosecutions involving organised criminal networks. We are experienced in defending multi handed cases involving substantial seizures of Class A and Class B drugs, firearms offences and linked allegations of human trafficking and exploitation.
A significant element of our general crime work involves conspiracy allegations, where the prosecution case turns on an alleged agreement rather than direct participation. Chambers has extensive experience in defending conspiracy cases involving multiple defendants, complex disclosure and lengthy trials. Our advocates are skilled at identifying weaknesses in the prosecution narrative, defining an individual client’s position within a wider case, and presenting clear and focused defences, often without the need for a defendant to give evidence.
Modern general crime prosecutions frequently rely on technical and surveillance evidence, including telephone and messaging data, cell site analysis, CCTV, ANPR and other digital material. Our barristers have considerable expertise in challenging the reliability, interpretation and admissibility of such evidence, both pre trial and before the jury. This forensic approach has proved central to undermining prosecution cases built on inference and assumption.
Known for clarity, authority and strategic judgment, our Chambers is trusted by solicitors to handle serious and general criminal defence work with care and precision. We offer experienced advocacy across a wide range of offences, ensuring that even the most complex and document heavy prosecutions are presented to the court in a clear, disciplined and persuasive manner.
